Two Lake Poets of the Turkish World: Haşim and Alıkul

Abstract
The "lake" theme which became a poetic figure by Haşim in the 20th century of Turkish Literature also has been evaluated in a special place in Kyrgyz Poetry for Issykkul Lake with its sacredness and endless landscape. For Kyrgyz Poets, the Issykkul Lake has been a source of inspiration and a shelter to rest their souls by its serenity of the cool waters resting on the Ala Mountains. The "lake" theme which allures Turkey's great poets also expanded the imagination of great Kyrgyz poets. Alıkul Osmonov, one of the greatest names of Modern Kyrgyz Poetry, is one of those poets. In this study the "lake" theme in the poems of Ahmet Haşim, known as the "lake poet" in Turkish literature and Alıkul Osmonov - the admirer of "Issykkul Lake" in Kyrgyz Literature- will be compared.
