Abdullah Zühdî and His Work Rehgüzâr-ı Matbuatta

Abstract

Abdullah Zühdî is a literary journalist who lived between 1869 and 1925. He has written works on novels, stories, popular histories, memoir-chats. He started journalism life in Saadet newspaper, later worked in Sabah, Tercüman-ı Hakikat, İkdam newspapers. But his name is mostly associated with the Yeni Gazete. Although the author's book, Rehgüzâr-ı Matbuatta (1314/1898), can be included in the memoir-chat, it also shows the story feature. In this way, it can be said that he possessed several literary genres. The work consists of twenty-five pieces written between 1884 and 1898. At the end of each piece, the date of the writing is indicated. The tracks are more like the fact that the journalist who made his talent talks about the daily routines of his observations passed on paper.
