Abstract
According to the Khakas's belief the water spirit is female. Water is the source of abundance, fertility and happiness but at the same time is the soruce of catastrophe and demlition. The water spirit has humanistic characteristics. Khakas are given sacrifice to please the water spirit. One shouldn't annoy the water spirit. Water is directly related to women's prolificacy. Accordin to the Altains mythological belief, the origin of the world is related to water
