Abstract

Karabakh consists of districts of Aghdam, Terter, Yevlah, Fuzuli,Belagan, Gubadli, Jibrael, Mingechevir, Agcabedi, Khojavend, Shusha,Khankendi, Lachin, Kalbajar, Khans, Gorus, Akdere, Berde, Zangezur,Hadrut within the territory of Azerbaijan. During the Ottoman period,the region was divided into five parts, namely Talish and Gulüstan,Khaçın, Çilaberd, Verende and Dizak, and demographic features weredocumented in detail in the tax records. Armenian attacks on the lands ofKarabakh that started before 1990 gradually increased and in 1993, thisregion was completely occupied by Armenia. After almost thirty years,Armenia started the attacks in 2020 and took a major defeat at the end ofthe conflicts which led to ending the Armenian occupation in the region.Karabakh was re-incorporated into Azerbaijan territory.As in other languages, there have been changes in Azerbaijani Turkishover time. The Caucasus and in different regions of the world (Georgia,Iran, Turkey, Dagestan, Iraq) speaking on form with a different voice andspeech features and Azerbaijani Turkish, Azerbaijan geography dividedinto different dialect from each other and according to geographicalprinciples East, West, North and South. The Karabakh dialect is withinthe Western group dialects.Azerbaijani Turkish with different sound and pronunciation featuresspoken in Caucasus and different regions of the world is divided intovarious subdialects and divided into subdialects of East, West, North andSouth according to geographical basis.In this article, the characteristic features of the Western groupsubdialects and the Karabakh subdialect are discussed. The aim of thestudy is to determine the characteristics of the Karabakh subdialectthrough the Dialectology Atlas of the Azerbaijan Language. The subdialectof Karabakh was transferred over 128 maps based on the features of its sound and pronunciation, etymology, syntax and vocabulary on the Atlas. In each item, the use of a selected feature in the subdialect of Karabakh invarious districts of the region is explained by giving the sample words and the places where they are used. At the end of the article, it was concluded that a dialect atlas study should be done also for Turkey Turkish.
