Abstract

2013 is the 90th birthday of Dr. Uzbek Sharifovich Baichura, the prestigious representative of the linguistics of Kazan University. The reputable linguistic scientist U. Baichura began his academic studies on experimental phonetic for Tatar, expanded this methodology to the other written Turkish languages while preparing the dissertation for doctorate, later to all Ural-Altaic languages.His 170 scientific studies were published in 5 languages in 17 countries. The first publications were introduced to the science world by the famous German turcologist Gerhard Doerfer. Being known as the expert for Altaic languages, Ü. Bayçura examined the phonetic structure of the Ural Altaic languages based on statistics and laboratorial methods. This Tatar scientist carried out his studies under the hard circumstances of the Sovietic period and he was never allowed to attend any conferences abroad
